The automation world used to be divided into two control camps, discrete and analog. Low cost PLCs and other controllers handled discrete I/O well with ladder logic and a wide variety of available I/O modules, but forays into analog required upgrading to much more expensive controllers, often labeled PACs.
But that’s no longer the case, as monitoring and control of many different types of analog variables and processes can be accomplished with cost-effective controllers, often connected to inexpensive I/O modules via Ethernet.
These controllers can not only handle a wide variety of analog I/O, but can also perform the advanced functions inherent to many analog processes such as signal conditioning and closed-loop control.
If your applications extend into the analog world, consider these families of Advantech controllers and I/O, and you may be pleasantly surprised to find your needs met at a much lower price point than you expected.
