Increasing the Efficiency of Information Management with Seamless Data Integration

Posted by Kari Grosser on Jul 15, 2017 10:30:00 AM

Since the 1960s, the manufacturing industry has used computers to control cost and production to optimize company resources and efficiency. The rapid development of information technology has resulted in the creating of a wide range of information systems, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, manufacturing execution systems (MESs) and digital systems for managing customers, supply chains, products, manufacturing processes and equipment. However, regardless of the type of system, data and statistical analysis provides the basis for operation. And although many companies have implemented digital management systems, rather unfortunately, they still rely on manual collection and entry for data acquisition.

Cellular Networking and Decision Analytics for an Improved Customer Experience

Posted by Kari Grosser on Jul 12, 2017 10:30:00 AM

A theme park was always looking for ways to enhance the customer experience, and minimizing wait times at attractions and food service outlets was one of the key concerns. Tracking and analyzing visitor behavior could potentially let management address it. The first step would be to have the analytics software look at things like advanced ticket sales, weather forecasts and previous attendance records to help management make staffing decisions several days in advance.

Advantech's Construction of Linkou Smart Factory Accelerates Implementation of Industry 4.0

Posted by Kari Grosser on Jul 10, 2017 10:10:00 AM

Advantech's manufacturing centers began their active intelligence-oriented transformation years ago, collecting information from sensors at operating sites and uploading it to the cloud for real-time analysis with visual presentation. Now factory directory and leaders can see the current status of production lines no matter where they may be located. Previously, data monitoring in a factory required manual operation, which not only wasted time but also resulted in higher error rates. Machine failures and unsuccessful staff dispatch, if any, affected factory production schedules. Generally, yield statistics would only be available when production was completed or at the end of the month, when work order progress could finally be understood and operation results be reviewed. But now, since the digital production line management upgrade has been complete, the benefits of Industry 4.0 are obvious: reduced production time, reduced manufacturing costs, and improved capacity and quality yield.

One Solution for 49 Flavors

Posted by Kari Grosser on Jul 5, 2017 9:45:00 AM

Modern creameries produce a multitude of different ice cream flavors, with all kinds of ingredients. Keeping everything at exactly the right temperature and the correct humidity is the key to protecting flavor and controlling bacterial growth. A creamery uses a lot of refrigeration, and that means that the operations will not only have to monitor the temperature and ambient humidity in many different parts of the plant; they'll have to monitor the refrigeration systems for ammonia leaks and do preventative maintenance before small problems become catastrophic.
