In response to cost and other concerns, Advantech recently introduced their MIC-3100 series of IPCs, specifically designed to work in the harshest industrial environments. These IPCs provide up to three times the value of traditional PCs, while only costing a little more than a white box model.
A full metal chassis makes these IPCs extremely durable and they use hard fixed-pin metric connectors with high resistance to vibration, rather than the more flexible golden finger, to secure MIC-3000 modules.
For east of maintenance, all MIC-3000 series DAQ modules are hot swappable through the front of the MIC-3000 IPCs. Through the use of a simple switch on the front of the modules, they can be quickly inserted and removed without causing disruption to operations. A PCI extension box allows users to add up to four of their own PCI cards and plug them into the IPC chassis.
