City Flood Control System gets a Powerful IoT Solution

Posted by Chuck Harrell on May 11, 2016 11:00:00 AM

City flood prevention is mainly to prevent the problems of heavy rain. The function of the pump station needs to be combined with the water forecasting system for scheduling the tasks. Even in dry arid countries in the Middle East, storm water management is an essential tool. The local authority in Al Ain, in the UAE, started installing advanced storm water management systems in 2012.

The scope of this project was to improve and upgrade the operation and maintenance of storm water networks and pumping stations in the UAE. This was designed as a two phase project, the first of which was completed in 2012, the second phase of the project looked at phase one and evaluated its efficacy. The conclusion was that phase one had problems that needed to be resolved and in March 2014, ETEK won the contract to build stage two. ETEK is a UAE based technology and integrated solutions provider that delivers a full range of products, services and support to clients within the GCC & Levant region. They provide industrial applications, industrial automation and business applications solutions and focuses on the water, utilities & IFMS, MES/MIS industrial automation solutions and infrastructure markets.

Intelligent Building Automation System and Energy Saving Solution

Posted by Chuck Harrell on Nov 28, 2015 11:00:00 AM

One of the most difficult problems facing the world is conserving energy in buildings.  However, it is not easy to have a cost-effective solution to reduce energy usage in a building.  One solution for saving energy is to implement an intelligent building automation system (BAS) which can be controlled according to its schedule.   In Indonesia, a large university with a five floor building and 22 classrooms wanted to save the amount of energy being used.

Smart Water Grid and Pump Station Monitoring

Posted by Chuck Harrell on Nov 25, 2015 10:30:00 AM

Under the impetus of the Internet of Things technology, water control equipment will be equipped with an intelligent network.  Water pumping stations are the most important node in a water network (i.e.,  the booster pumping station can influence the public water and the drainage pumping station can ensure normal drainage during flood season). With an increase of population in areas of rivers, oceans, and lakes , the supervision of the water pumping station must rely on science and technology to reduce the inspection cycle or achieve unmanned control.  By installing a water network information system, the relevant department can view the operating status of the pump station and can also record the efficiency parameters to provide the basis for equipment maintenance and significantly increase management efficiency.
