Increasing the Efficiency of Information Management with Seamless Data Integration

Posted by Kari Grosser on Jul 15, 2017 10:30:00 AM

Since the 1960s, the manufacturing industry has used computers to control cost and production to optimize company resources and efficiency. The rapid development of information technology has resulted in the creating of a wide range of information systems, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, manufacturing execution systems (MESs) and digital systems for managing customers, supply chains, products, manufacturing processes and equipment. However, regardless of the type of system, data and statistical analysis provides the basis for operation. And although many companies have implemented digital management systems, rather unfortunately, they still rely on manual collection and entry for data acquisition.

HMI Total Solution Enables Bus Manufacturers to Realize Smart Factory

Posted by Kari Grosser on Jan 6, 2017 9:45:00 AM

Industry 4.0 is gradually becoming a reality, and manufacturers are actively transforming their production process into intelligent manufacturing systems by leveraging Information Technology (IT) and Operations Technology (OT). The main concept of Industry 4.0 is to realize transparent vertical and horizontal integration from the production line to management level so as to increase productivity and efficiency. In other words, the resources available throughout the entire production process must be digitalized and networked so that they can be visible and completely available.

Automated Food/Beverage Production with Simplified Touch Control

Posted by Kari Grosser on Nov 21, 2016 10:00:00 AM

Project Introduction

China's growing domestic market has resulted in a two-digit growth of food & beverage processing and packaging equipment and has drawn many companies around the world to explore this huge developing market, including TCP Pioneer Co. Ltd, a liquid food and beverage manufacturing/packing facility provider headquarted in northern Taiwan with its products sold to several top beverage brands in China. Over the years China's food/drinks packing industry has evolved from that of comparatively straight forward mechanization carried out by hand and electric or pneumatic systems to a higher degree of automation based on information collection and processing, and the need for automation products like Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) combined with the use of Human-Machine Interface (HMI) is soaring. Addressing China's market needs, about three years ago, our customer started to upgrade their products from those of more traditional mechanical types to the use of PLCs matched with Advantech's human-machine interface (HMI) product - WebOP - a touch panel display through which the operators at beverage plants can easily manipulate the machines and increase productivity and efficiency. The result is that our customer is selling their equipment units for twice the price of their original products; and the customers are dramatically reducing their use of manual labor and saving huge costs.
