Since the 1960s, the manufacturing industry has used computers to control cost and production to optimize company resources and efficiency. The rapid development of information technology has resulted in the creating of a wide range of information systems, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, manufacturing execution systems (MESs) and digital systems for managing customers, supply chains, products, manufacturing processes and equipment. However, regardless of the type of system, data and statistical analysis provides the basis for operation. And although many companies have implemented digital management systems, rather unfortunately, they still rely on manual collection and entry for data acquisition.
ASR-3100 Overview by Magic Pao, Director, Advantech Industrial Intelligent Systems (Industrial PC/Server) Group
Nowadays at the gym, people listen to streaming music chosen on-the-fly instead of pre-downloaded music while weight training or cycling in spin class. In restaurants, the first response of diners when their meals are served is not to pick up a knife and fork but to upload photos of their food. The popularity of various types of intelligent devices and the rapid expansion of cloud computing applications has already transformed traditional data storage modes. Numerous access-intensive apps have overwhelmed traditional computer storage technology, leading to the formation of brand new storage concepts.
A certain factory needed a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Server that would enhance system performance and at the same reduce infrastructure costs. In order to have a fully integrated system, our customer asked for a SCADA server with remote management, virtualization and storage capacity.
